Film - Silver Screen

The Film group meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
We will show older films that you want to see again.

Venue: Arts Room, The Dragon Theatre, Barmouth.

Time: 1:30pm Doors Open, 2:00pm film starts.
A charge of £3 is made to cover room hire costs.

July The Film Group has been put on hold whilst we review how the group works. This is because we are not getting enough numbers to make the group financially sustainable.

June - 22nd - : The Lady Killers starring Sir Alec Guinness.

May - 25th - : Citizen Kane starring Orson Welles.

April - 27th - : The Young Ones starring Cliff Richard.

March - 23rd - : Von Ryan's Express starring Frank Sinatra and Trevor Howard.

February - 24th - : High Noon starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly.

January - 27th - : To Kill A Mockingbird starring Gregory Peck.

*** 2015 ***

December - 23rd - : A Comedy Double feature this time with two servings of classic old time comic teams to enjoy. First, a short from Laurel & Hardy, followed by "Duck Soup" starring the Marx Brothers.

November - 25th - : Airplane (1980) starring Robert Hayes, Julie Hagerty and Leslie (Don't call me Shirley) Nielsen.

October - 28th - From Here to Eternity starring Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift and Deborah Kerr. Best picture (1953) and winner of 8 Academy Awards.

September - 23rd - Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.

August - No film this month.

July - 22nd - Our film this month is the musical "Cabaret" starring Liza Minelli, Michael York and Joel Grey.

June - 24th - From the Ealing Studios (but not a comedy) we present "Dead of Night" a collection of 5 Ghost stories told at a country house party. Stars Mervyn Johns, Googie Withers and Michael Redgrave.

May - 27th - A classic British "film noir" "Brighton Rock" starring Richard Attenborough and Carol Marsh will be our film in May. Alongside the two main stars you should also look out for William Hartnell - the original Dr. Who.

April - 22nd - Alfred Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" with Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason is our thriller for April. Note, because of it's length this film will start at 1:45pm.

March - 25th - The first Ealing Comedy in colour - "The Titfield Thunderbolt" with Stanley Holloway, John Gregson and Sid James.

February - 25th - Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific" with Mitzi Gaynor, John Kerr and France Nuyen is our musical extravanganza for February. Note, because of it's length this film will start at 1:45pm.

January - 28th - A classic film noir - "The Third Man" starring Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten. Note change of day to 4th Wednesday.

December - 11th - A Heart Warming Film for Christmas - "It's A Wonderful Life" starring James Stewart.

November - 13th - Come along and sing along to "Summer Holiday" starring Cliff Richard.

October - 9th - October sees us viewing "Some Like It Hot" starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

September - 11th - Our film for the new season is "Brief Encounter" starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard.

August - No film this month as we all go on holiday.

July - 10th - In July we will show a James Bond film; "Goldfinger" starring Sean Connery and Honor Blackman.

June - 12th - Peter and Sue Leyden will host our June presentation of "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" starring Cillian Murphy and Padraic Delaney.

May - 8th - Our May presentation will be "On Golden Pond" starring Henry Fonda, Katharine Hepburn and Jane Fonda.

April - 10th - Our first film is "Casablanca" starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman
